Position Description


This is an immediate position requiring demonstrated experience in local and wide area network operations. It is primarily technical in nature, focusing on file and print service operations, but involves the ability to administer a full range of IT technologies. It requires significant abilities to communicate with worldwide employees and with a variety of international service providers, hardware providers, and technical support contractors. The position will report to the Manager of Information Systems. This position is responsible for design, deployment, and maintenance distributed server and desktop systems, including network operating systems, file and print services, distributed directory systems, email services, desktop operating systems, and desktop applications. The position will be responsible for: lifecycle of IT systems, including requirements assessment and documentation; definition of alternatives; implementation plans; actual design; test; deploy; and training; maintenance and upgrades; technical support to correct and repair these systems from their base worldwide. The position will be called upon to provide support in all other aspects of IT operations, including midrange systems administration (UNIX), ERP application administration communication systems support (Cisco based WAN/LAN), and PBX administration. The position must participate in the administration of the IT services, including budget preparation, budget reporting, status reporting, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Building and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 environment;
Support of the Microsoft AD based directory services;
Building and supporting Microsoft file and print services;
Managing Microsoft add-in services such as Blackberry, UNIX integration, authentication management, tape backups, etc.
Managing Microsoft Exchange email system;
Managing Windows 2000 and XP Desktop Operating Systems in accordance with the client’s standard Desktop Baseline;
Building and supporting Microsoft Exchange 2000 email/collaboration software systems;
Monitoring server performance and resource use (disk space, tape space, CPU utilization), and reporting issues as required;

Monitoring communication systems performance and implanting configuration changes in accordance with direction from the communications group, and;
Maintaining configuration control of all assigned systems in accordance with established procedures;

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 6 years of equivalent education, training or experience;
Must have 3 or more years of demonstrated experience in Microsoft based networking technologies, including Active Directory, Exchange technologies (including GroupWise and Exchange) and server management technologies (SMS, SUS, MOM, Altiris, etc.);
Demonstrated experience working with large or mid-sized network systems, including documentation and configuration control, and;
Must be fluent in English
